How to Become a Stockbroker in West Virginia
(A) – Education
Obtaining education from a post-secondary institution is highly encouraged when learning how to become a stockbroker. Degree programs in Economics, Finance, Accounting or Business are all suitable.
(B) – Licensing
Once you have a degree, you’ll be better suited to find work at a brokerage firm. If the brokerage is a FINRA member firm, then they can sponsor you to take the Series 7 Exam. You can only take the exam if sponsored by a FINRA member firm, a self-regulatory organization or an exchange.
(C) – Registration
You’ll also have to be registered with the West Virginia office of the state Auditor in Securities Commission in order to assist clients. A registration fee of $80 along with Form U-4 should be sent through CRD (Central Registration Depository).
